Outdoor spaces are just as important as interiors. Many backyards are designed to be an extension of the home, giving more space to entertain with family and friends. And the homeowners wanted to do just that, taking advantage of their backyard’s full potential. Through Accents of the South’s design of the pool deck and a new pavilion housing an outdoor kitchen, dining and living space, the clients’ backyard truly became the perfect backyard oasis.
Making the Space
Keeping within the tight parameters this backyard oasis took every inch of the small lot in downtown Huntsville Alabama. The grandeur pavilion overlooking the pool backs up to the neighboring garage giving a backdrop to the outdoor dining space and outdoor living space with fire-pit.
Functional + Fun
The family of six wanted to enjoy their backyard to the fullest so the focal of the plan was the pool. Allowing for ample swimming and play. The integrated swim up bar-stools is a fun feature catering to parents and kids alike.
Colors of Nature
Accents of the South used nature to set the tone of this backyard oasis’ color palette. The furniture was kept neutral with touches of soft turquoise to compliment the cool blue hue of the pool, while not distracting from the stunning landscaping.
The central portion of the pavilion features an outdoor kitchen clad in white ship lap and topped with dark concrete counters. Above the sink a TV is mounted, which can be seen by either side of the U-shaped kitchen and can be hidden when not in use.
To the left of the kitchen is a sitting area with a large sectional and a pair of shin toaster chairs, making it the perfect conversation spot. Nestled in the middle is a fire pit for those cooler nights.
On the other end is a dining space large enough for six, which we designed for those summer dinner parties. To complete the space, all three areas housed in the new pavilion are softened by drapery panels, mirrors and boxwood’s that were planted in tall sleek containers, making the space feel inviting and welcoming.
