Before and After: Men’s Study
Sallie is giving us a behind the scenes look on how this Before and After: Men’s Study went from mundane to extraordinary.
This handsome den got a complete makeover from top to bottom. Showing you that the “man cave” can be a place of sophistication.
This space was formerly a study right off the foyer. It was non-functional and under-utilized. An awkwardly placed closet left a narrow niche which didn’t add value to the room. Our clients wanted to use this space to watch ball games with friends, which meant creating more usable square footage. By removing the closet we were able to make the footprint larger allowing for extra seating.
Another detail we added was wall paneling. This simple panel detail added dimension and drama to a once undramatic space. Everything was painted one color (paneling, walls, & trim) adding cohesiveness and volume to the space.
Furniture, Fabrics and Finishes:
The room’s color palette of grey, navy and gold was pulled from our client’s exquisite oriental rug. With this color palette we were able to achieve a masculine feel. Depth was added in the space by utilizing various textures with linen, velvet, and silk. Along with the combination of metal finishes and painted paneling an updated transitional study was created.
We chose a tufted sofa, deep lounge chairs and bongo ottomans to give plenty of comfortable seating options. The upholstered pieces on this project were from Hickory Chair. If you are unfamiliar with Hickory Chair it is a high-end, well-designed and executed, furniture brand. Fabricated right here in the USA. All pieces are hand made in North Carolina and we are able to customize each one. The comfort level is unmatched and their furniture will stand the test of time! We feel it is a great value product line.
We love the transformation of this Men’s Study and hope you do too!
