Get to know a little more about Sallie Stokes, an Interior Designer at Accents of the South in Huntsville Alabama, with this interview.

Sallie, how do you believe design can reflect a person's style and personality?

Do you love color? Is all white your thing? Do you hate florals but love pattern? Are you tailored in your style or more comfortable? These are all elements that impact our design process and ultimately aid in making your home a reflection of you. I believe we are most at home when our houses reflect us, our lifestyles, needs and wants. Home should be a retreat, not a museum.

Where did you grow up and how does it influence your work?

I'm a hometown girl! Originally from Huntsville, I've had the privilege of watching the Rocket City grow up! I even left for a time and moved back, I just love Huntsville. That small town comradery with an influx of city life and people from all over the world makes Huntsville this ever-changing reflection of its citizens. No two clients are the same. It forces me to be creative, distinct and inspired not only in my design work but in my everyday life!

Where do you find and get inspiration for the pieces you use in one of your designs?

Market is by far my favorite way to source items but days spent in our fabric library are never bad! There's something about physically touching the items. Getting a feel for furniture and fabrics with both sight and touch is not to be taken for granted.

Finally, tell us what you can’t live without as you go about your busy life!

I can't live without my measuring tape. Ask anyone in the office- mine is the only one that is labeled with my name and phone number. That and coffee!

Sallie loves working with the clients of Accents of the South and looks forward to working with you in the future. She is available for contact by emailing Sallie Stokes.
