Best in Competition for Five Years Running and Three Gold Awards!

The ASID Design Excellence Awards recognize the skills, creativity, and innovation of ASID Alabama design members, and we are thrilled to have been recognized as Best in Competition yet again this year! We have been the recipient of this honor for the past five consecutive years.

We also took home three other gold trophies this year! We wanted to show you which projects won and share a bit about the design process of each one.

Best in Retail:

Heritage Kitchen + Bath

Creating a space that would be flexible to trend changes and wow customers as they walked into the space were both key in designing this new high-end showroom for a premiere decorative plumbing studio.

Retail is ever-changing, so it was imperative to design displays that could easily be changed to showcase new product, as well as make a large open space feel more intimate.  We achieved this by adding stand-alone vignettes to break up the large space, which also allows customers to envision the product in their homes.

Keeping the color scheme neutral with off-white cabinetry and a gorgeous epoxy floor in shades of gray allows the product to pop. This neutral scheme will keep the showroom current as future trends arise.

This designer showroom creates an effortless backdrop for the studio’s product while simultaneously giving it an upscale feel that will give customers a shopping experience they won’t forget.

Best in Large Residential:

The Campbell Residence

We designed this lakefront home from the ground up, which was no small undertaking. It was important to our clients to have as many lake views as possible. Our clients also wanted their home to blend both causal and modern finishes and furnishings to create a relaxed and welcoming feel.

Beginning with our space planning and floor plan, we achieved a layout for the main rooms and master suite to all have lake views.  With the views as our backdrop, we then juxtaposed natural, rustic elements with clean lines and modern finishes and furnishings.

Our palette was inspired by the surroundings – utilizing rich, deep neutrals with accents of color to enhance the views without competing with them.  This allows your gaze to move easily from the inside of the room to the outdoors.

The home utilizes the surrounding beauty and is a warm and inviting place for family and friends to visit and retreat to.

Best in Single Space Residential:

The Lambert Bedroom

After redesigning most of their home, our longtime clients wanted to now focus on their dark and dreary master bedroom.  Our challenge was to design a much-needed storage solution that fit the space, while giving them a soft and serene scheme that would lighten their space.

To address the storage problem, we designed a large cabinet spanning one wall with drawers and hanging for all their storage needs.  We added an elegant trim detail with a circle motif to the doors and accented it with mirror.  This unique feature keeps the large built-in feeling light with its reflective quality.  Panel molding was applied to the walls to add a sense of refinement, which allows the walls to flow into the cabinets seamlessly.

The walls are painted in a soft sea glass, lightening the room and creating a feeling of serenity.  Soft upholstery, graceful curtains, and bedding add to the finishing touches of this beautiful oasis.
