The English Tudor Style
Between 1890 and 1940 English Tudor was a popular style for American homes. There are various exterior characteristics of this style. Stucco walls with decorative wood half-timbering, embellished doorways with arch openings and diamond patterned leaded glass windows are features we were able to incorporate into our client’s brand new exterior. Drawing inspiration from homes of the Bellemeade area of Nashville, we designed an exterior that blended stone, stucco, and brick seamlessly into a harmonious English Tudor exterior. Before they could break ground, all of the plans and finish selections had to be approved by Lendon’s Architectural Review Board (ARB).
Creating a home just for our client
Our client came to us with her plans already drafted. We made a few changes and revisions based on the design style, her preferences, and overall design goal. Due to her specific needs and wants, we faced some unique design challenges. The first was to incorporate her streamlined, contemporary furniture and style within the parameters of English Tudor architecture. A significant downsize from her current home posed our next design challenge to maximize the space for storage and entertaining. Making sure there was enough seating and room to host family and friends, was a must. Al, o her weekly game night meant finding space for a permanent card table and chairs.
Throughout the design process, we worked to meet these challenges and create a custom English Tudor home as unique and amazing as our client.
