The Color Green

Green is the color of, renewal, nature, and energy, and is associated with meanings of growth, harmony, and freshness. Green is also traditionally associated with money and ambition. So there is no wonder why we like the color GREEN. You see green everywhere in nature and seeing “new green” at spring time gives you a sense of hope, health, adventure, and renewal for the season to come. That’s why we enjoy green in our homes. Whether it be a potted plant or an entire room painted in green, we love it all the same.

Our Favorite Green Paint Colors

Green can be a tricky color to pinpoint. Different shades of green can either have undertones of yellow or blues. Too bright of a green, and it might look like Kermit the Frog. Too dull and you might end up with a muddy appearance. There are thousands of shades to choose from and below is a round-up of some tried and true greens, by Sherwin Williams. These greens are bold and would make a statement in any room. They range from warm to cool.

How to use Green

In one of our most recent projects, Providence, we used Sherwin Williams, Inverness to paint the entire dining room of our client’s new construction home in Huntsville, Al. But we didn’t stop at the paint! Our client is a huge cook and wanted a way to block off her open-floor-plan kitchen to the dining room for when she had intimate dinner parties. So we used a luscious, green velvet drape that matched our green paint color to partition the room seamlessly. And when opened, the drapes add a nice softness to the boldly painted room.

Accenting with Green

If painting your entire room green is too bold, try adding small accents of green throughout your home. Spots of green accessories or plants can liven up any space. We rounded up a few of our favorite green things we love.
